Job summary

Duke Raleigh Hospital, a campus of Duke University Hospital, seeks an Emergency Department Technician I to support nursing staff in the fast-paced ED. Responsibilities include basic life support, stabilizing patients, labelling specimens, and transporting patients from triage to treatment areas.

The role requires graduation from high school or GED, NCA I or EMT certification, and BLS. Relocation assistance may be available; experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Work requires graduation from an accredited high school or a GED.
• NCA I training as defined by the North Carolina Division of Facility Services.
• Current minimum listing as an NCA I with the Division of Facility Services or EMT credential.

Responsibilities

• Under nurse direction, perform basic life support interventions for ED patients.
• Initiate life-saving measures and stabilize patients as needed.
• Assist with patient transport to treatment areas.
• Serve as liaison between patient/family and emergency staff, communicating patient conditions.
• Duke Raleigh ED duties may include EKGs, vital signs, and specimen labelling as directed.
