Job summary

UNC Health's Rex Emergency Department in Raleigh, NC is seeking a full-time Emergency Department nurse. The role supports patient care and safety in a fast-paced ED, with orientation lasting one week.

The department features a busy environment with triage, minor treatment and acute care areas, and requires a 36-hour work week. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, Nursing Assistant I or EMT licensure, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Nursing Assistant I or EMT licensure/certification required.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills needed for charting and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs every 2 hours or as directed.
• Record intake and output as directed.
• Assist with urinary catheterization or Foley procedures and document.
• Prepare area for sterile procedures and document.
• Perform minor orthopedic splinting under physician assistant guidance.
• Document skin breakdowns and notify RN.
• Remove IV catheter and document.
• Transcribe and transmit physician orders and other information.
• Work across triage, minor treatment and acute areas per policy.
