Job summary

Backus Hospital Emergency Department is a 42-bed unit providing fast-paced, high-acuity care as a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. Registered Nurses collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, using EPIC EMR and advanced technologies to deliver patient-centered care.

This role requires a nursing degree (BSN preferred), CT RN license, and certification readiness (ACLS/TNCC/PALS/CPI) within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• One year RN experience and/or completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program required.
• BLS required. Ability to obtain ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain and maintain administration of moderate sedation within 9 months of hire.
• Current unrestricted CT RN license in good standing.
• Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric EN or NRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care.
• Utilize evidence-based practices per Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
• Apply nursing process to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Support patients and families through education and compassionate care.
