Job summary

Yale New Haven Health Services Corp. is seeking a Patient Financial Access Specialist-ED to manage patient registration across Emergency Departments and admitting areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Two to three years in a customer service environment, ideally in a medical office or hospital setting with emphasis on registration/scheduling, third-party insurance verification, and financial clearance.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and accurately record patient demographic information in the EMR for clinical and financial use, following identity/security protocols.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-payments/deductibles at the point of service.
• Manage ED registration functions, track board prioritization, and assist with admitting procedures for various in-patient bookings.
• Escort patients to treatment areas and maintain visitor passes according to protocol.
• Provide excellent customer service and support departmental goals within downtime and incident planning frameworks.
