Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a 2nd shift Medical Office Assistant in Oshkosh, WI. The role requires registering patients, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and ensuring accurate data entry in EPIC EMR.

You will support an emergency department environment with strong customer service, HIPAA compliance, and effective communication with patients and staff. Weekend shifts and a rotating schedule are part of this position.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate required.
• Experience with insurance verification/eligibility is preferred.
• Proficient with EPIC EMR and basic computer tools.

Responsibilities

• Creates the initial electronic health record foundational to patient care and billing.
• Registers patients, verifies demographics and insurance, collects co-pays.
• Explains insurance coverage and refers patients to Financial Advocates as needed.
• Adheres to HIPAA, EMTALA, and patient rights requirements.
• Coordinates scheduling, reminders, and patient transportation when necessary.
• Provides excellent customer service and supports a welcoming environment.
• Manages electronic health record queues per department process.
