Job summary

Jackson Hospital is recruiting for a patient access role responsible for pre-registration, registration, payer identification and verification, and directing patients to financial counseling.

This position emphasizes accurate data entry, benefits verification, coordination of benefits, and collecting patient financial responsibility at the point of service, while upholding Medicare/EMTALA, HIPAA and regulatory requirements, and delivering excellent customer service to patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous business office experience preferred in a healthcare environment.
• Ability to interact with the public, i.e. children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric.
• Ability to type 40 to 50 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration and registration of patients.
• Payer identification and verification.
• Referral to financial counseling as needed.
• Point of service collections and cash handling.
• Data gathering and entry of patient demographic and benefits information.
• Verification of benefits eligibility and coordination of benefits.
• Compliance with Medicare/Medicaid related requirements (Important Message from Medicare, EMTALA, HIPAA).
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, family members, and healthcare staff.
