Jackson Parish Hospital is seeking a PRN Patient Access Representative to greet and register patients across hospital services, verify demographics and insurance, collect payments, and uphold HIPAA. This role supports patient flow and accuracy in the electronic health record system.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year's experience in hospital admissions, healthcare registration, medical office, customer service, or clerical experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic health records and insurance verification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, visitors, and family members in a professional and courteous manner.
• Register patients for inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, laboratory, radiology, and specialty services.
• Verify and update patient demographic information at every visit.
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding patient balances when applicable.
• Obtain required consent forms and patient signatures; explain paperwork.
• Ensure accurate data entry into the hospital’s EMR.
• Explain registration procedures, financial responsibilities, and hospital policies.
• Assist patients with financial assistance applications and payment options when appropriate.
• Coordinate with nursing staff, physicians, and other departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA.
• Answers telephone calls and assist with scheduling, referrals, and general inquiries.
• Scan and upload patient documentation into EMR.
• Resolve registration and insurance issues in a timely manner.
