Job summary

Intermountain Health in Brighton, CO is seeking a Lead Patient Access Acute Coordinator for the ED Registration area. This role ensures accurate registrations, schedules patient flow, and verifies insurance; acts as SME and coordinates with care teams to resolve authorizations and appeals.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated customer service experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Internet, and email.
• Basic knowledge of healthcare insurance plans.
• Familiar with HIPAA/EMTALA compliance.
• Ability to train others.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to pass Level II certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with supervisor to manage expected floor time schedules.
• Assist supervisor with periodic reports.
• Serve as SME in department; follow up on appeals, denials, inquiries; update accounts.
• Provide floor staff support when escalations occur.
• Inform patients about estimates, financial assistance, payment plans, and charity care.
• Coordinate with clinical/admin staff to ensure smooth patient flow and quality care.
• Document and update patient records in EHR; follow downtime procedures.
• Follow up on pending issues and escalations (prior authorizations, referrals, estimates).
