Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is hiring a Patient Financial Access Specialist-ED to manage patient registration across Emergency Departments, verify insurance, collect co-pays, and support admissions. You will coordinate with trauma, stroke and other teams to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires strong customer service, attention to privacy and accurate data entry in the EMR, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Experience in hospital registration and billing is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree is preferred.
• 2–3 years in a customer service role, preferably in healthcare.
• Experience with patient registration, insurance verification, and prior authorization.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and update patient demographics in EMR with accuracy.
• Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-payments at point of service.
• Manage ED registration queue and patient flow, including direct admits.
• Escort patients to treatment areas and issue visitor passes.
• Provide courteous patient service and support for downtime/incidents.
