Job summary

Avem Health Partners seeks an Outpatient Coder with Emergency Dept and Ambulatory Surgery coding experience. You will code Surgery, Emergency Department, and Ancillary records, ensuring accuracy and timely reimbursement.

Responsibilities include auditing data, querying physicians, abstracting records, and posting charges while maintaining 95%+ accuracy and meeting productivity standards.

Qualifications

• Holds HIM credential (RHIT) or coding certification (AHIMA/AAPC) preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of coding experience required.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding rules.
• Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and disease processes.
• Proficient PC and software utilization; able to work with coding/him systems.

Responsibilities

• Code outpatient accounts including Surgery, Emergency Department and Ambulatory Surgery.
• Abstract chart data accurately; verify physician orders and documentation.
• Query physicians to clarify missing/ambiguous information for compliant coding.
• Post charges for procedures as required and ensure timely reimbursement.
• Maintain coding accuracy rate of 95%+ and productivity targets (ed 12–15/hr; obs 25–30/hr; outpatient surgery 7/hr).
• Stay current with coding clinics and CPT Assistant guidance.
