Job summary

Winona Health is seeking a Health Unit Technician for the Emergency Department. The role involves clerical support, managing information flow, and relaying radio communications from EMS teams to ED staff.

Responsibilities include monitoring the ED board, entering orders in the EMR, coordinating treatments, assisting with transfers, and ensuring accurate data and census reporting. Priorities include patient safety and efficient patient flow under direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook; Cerner EMR familiarity.
• Typing speed of at least 60 wpm.
• Proficient understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Monitor ED patient tracking board and enter orders into EMR.
• Receive radio traffic and relay information to ED staff.
• Coordinate treatments and assist with patient transfers and follow-up appointments.
• Route charts and forms to intended areas after discharge.
• Enter data into computer and verify daily census; assist with room turnover.
