Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant I for the Caldwell Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Lenoir, NC. The role supports professional caregivers, transports patients and equipment, and maintains the patient care unit desk area. Onsite, 36 hours per week with day shifts.

Responsibilities include clerical tasks, basic patient care, vital signs, and patient education under RN/physician guidance. High school diploma or GED and BLS are required; prior experience not required.

Qualifications

• Fluent verbal and written English is required.
• Ability to develop computer skills if not proficient.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures.
• Reviews patient care documentation and reports significant changes to nurse or physician.
• Performs clerical tasks: prioritizes workload, greets visitors, reviews and transcribes orders, maintains medical records.
• Supports clinical activities: cleaning work areas, stocking supplies, transporting patients and specimens.
• Provides direct patient care per care plan: bathing, feeding, ambulation, vitals, basic wound care as appropriate.
• Reinforces patient teaching and distributes educational materials.
