Job summary

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ, is seeking an Emergency Dept. Business Associate (per-diem, part-time, on-site) to support patient admissions and registrations in the ED.

The role involves collecting demographics and insurance information, entering data into the EMR, coordinating with hospital departments, and ensuring HIPAA compliance. The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma, strong customer service and communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
• 2+ years work experience in customer service or related field.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficient with MS Office Suites.

Responsibilities

• Arranges for the efficient and orderly admission of patients presenting to the Emergency Department, ensuring patient information is obtained and entered per EMTALA/HIPAA.
• Ensures patients are aware of hospital policies and added to the ED Tracking Board in a timely manner.
• Requests and collects demographic and financial information post-triage and assists with emergency financial applications when applicable.
• Inputs information into EMR, completes forms, and logs them into the EMR; collects IDs, insurance cards, and records.
• Verifies health insurance benefits and eligibility via systems or calls as needed.
• Ensures consents are completed and witnessed per policy for ED admissions.
• Creates charts for patients in the Emergency Room and coordinates with departments on transfers.
• Answers and directs phone calls to appropriate parties; provides transportation vouchers as needed during discharge.
• Acts as ED unit lead in absence of management for escalated concerns.
