Job summary

Floor & Decor seeks an experienced ECommerce Architect to own target-state architecture across front-end, back-end, and data layers. You will set standards for React-based apps and full-stack services while guiding major modernization initiatives.

You will drive integration patterns, tooling choices, and the governance of AI-assisted development, collaborating with enterprise teams to ensure security and scalability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years in a solution architect or enterprise architect role for large-scale eCommerce/digital platforms.
• Expert-level knowledge of React and modern front-end architecture; strong back-end design experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain target-state architecture for front-end, back-end, integration, and data layers.
• Establish architecture patterns and standards for React-based front-end applications and full-stack services.
• Lead architecture reviews for major initiatives to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with enterprise principles.
• Own technical roadmap for core commerce platforms including upgrades, replatforming, and headless initiatives.
• Design integration architecture across commerce, OMS, search, personalization, payments, and supporting systems.
• Evaluate emerging platforms and vendor solutions and provide build/buy/partner recommendations.
• Establish and evangelize coding standards and best practices across eCommerce engineering.
• Define guidelines for safe use of AI-assisted development tools and balance speed with quality, security, and compliance.
• Mentor senior engineers on architecture, system design, and platform expertise.

The role provides technical leadership for platform modernization, tooling (including AI-assisted development), and scalable solutions without direct people management.

The eCommerce Architect owns the technical architecture and integration strategy for flooranddecor.com and the broader eCommerce technology ecosystem. This role defines target-state architecture across front-end, back-end, integration, and data layers; sets architecture patterns and standards; and provides senior technical authority across the eCommerce organization without direct people-management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain target-state architecture for front-end, back-end, integration, and data layers
• Establish architecture patterns and standards for React-based front-end applications and full-stack services
• Lead architecture reviews for major initiatives to ensure scalability, security, and alignment with enterprise principles
• Own technical roadmap for core commerce platform (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Websphere Commerce) including upgrades, replatforming, and composable/headless initiatives
• Design integration architecture across commerce, OMS, search, personalization, payments, and supporting systems
• Evaluate emerging platforms, frameworks, and vendor solutions and provide build/buy/partner recommendations
• Establish and evangelize coding standards, design patterns, and technical best practices across eCommerce engineering
• Define guidelines for safe and effective use of AI-assisted development tools and balance speed with quality, security, and compliance
• Participate in enterprise architecture, security, and IT governance forums
• Mentor lead and senior engineers on architecture, system design, and platform expertise
• Prototype and validate new architectural approaches and represent eCommerce Technology in vendor briefings and industry forums

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant full-stack engineering work
• 5+ years in a solution architect, enterprise architect, or comparable senior technical role for large-scale eCommerce/digital commerce platforms
• Expert-level knowledge of React and modern front-end architecture and strong back-end/systems design experience
• Demonstrated experience designing integration architectures for high-traffic, customer-facing systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on expertise with large-scale commerce platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Websphere Commerce
• Experience leading platform migration, replatform, or composable/headless commerce transformations
• Practical experience defining organization-wide standards or guardrails for AI-assisted (“vibe coding”) development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code)
• Track record executing major technology modernization strategies (microservices, GraphQL BFF elements)
• Experience with cloud-native architecture, microservices, containerization, and CI/CD at enterprise scale
• Executive-level communication skills and relevant architecture certifications (Salesforce Commerce Cloud Architect, AWS/Azure/GCP) a plus
