Role

The Ecommerce Engineer is a core contributor on the engineering team responsible for building and maintaining features across flooranddecor.com . The role works full‑stack—implementing front‑end components and back‑end services—to deliver high‑quality, reliable eCommerce experiences while following platform engineering standards and release processes.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Stack Development

• Develop and support back‑end services, RESTful APIs, and integrations that power the eCommerce experience.
• Write clean, well‑tested, maintainable code and participate in peer code review.

Platform Contribution

• Support development, configuration, and troubleshooting on the commerce platform (examples given: Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WebSphere Commerce, Magento or comparable platforms).
• Assist with catalog, pricing, promotions, checkout, and other core commerce workflows under senior engineer guidance.
• Participate in deployments and monitor post‑release health of assigned features.

Quality & Testing

• Write and maintain unit, integration, and automated regression tests for assigned features.
• Participate in QA cycles, defect triage, and bug fixes to maintain platform stability.
• Support performance and accessibility testing for customer‑facing pages.
• Work closely with senior engineers, QA, and product partners in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver sprint commitments.
• Use AI‑assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate prototyping and debugging while maintaining code quality and security.
• Build platform and full‑stack expertise through pairing, code reviews, and self‑directed learning.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• 1–3 years of professional software development experience with exposure to full‑stack web development.
• Experience with at least one back‑end language/framework (Java preferred) and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Git‑based version control and collaborative development workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred

• Exposure to large‑scale eCommerce platforms (Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WebSphere Commerce, Magento, or similar).
• Experience using AI‑assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) in professional workflows.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and cloud‑hosted environments.
• Interest in retail, eCommerce, or consumer‑facing digital products and a focus on performance and accessibility.

Travel

• Minimal travel required: up to 5%.
