Floor & Decor is seeking a Senior eCommerce Engineer to design, build, and own complex full-stack features across the flooranddecor.com platform. You will work across React front-end, Java back-end, and platform services, delivering scalable solutions with strong architectural judgment.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product, design, and QA, and contribute to design decisions, testing strategies, and technical documentation.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of professional software development experience with strong full-stack expertise.
• Advanced proficiency in React and modern front-end architecture, plus strong Java back-end development experience.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful/GraphQL APIs and third-party integrations.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum delivery.

Responsibilities

The Senior eCommerce Engineer designs, builds, and owns complex full-stack features on flooranddecor.com, operating with a high degree of independence across the front-end, back-end, and platform layers of the eCommerce technology stack. This role is a key technical contributor who translates ambiguous requirements into scalable, well-architected solutions.

This role is a key technical contributor who translates ambiguous requirements into scalable, well-architected solutions. The Senior eCommerce Engineer is expected to bring strong platform expertise (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WebSphere Commerce), deep full-stack engineering judgment across React and Java, and fluency with modern development practices — including AI-assisted (“vibe coding”) development — to accelerate delivery without compromising code quality, security, or platform stability. This individual also mentors junior engineers and helps raise the technical bar for the team.

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities

Full-Stack Feature Ownership

• Design and build complex, full-stack features spanning React front-end applications and back-end services/APIs
• Own features end-to-end — from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-release monitoring
• Make sound architectural and design trade-offs within an established feature area, escalating platform-level decisions to the Lead Engineer or Architect

Platform Expertise

• Serve as a go-to expert on core commerce platform capabilities (catalog, pricing, promotions, cart/checkout, order management) within a large-scale platform such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud or WebSphere Commerce
• Design and build integrations between the commerce platform and adjacent systems (OMS, payments, search, personalization, etc.)
• Identify and remediate platform performance, scalability, and reliability issues

Engineering Excellence

• Write high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code and lead by example in code reviews
• Champion test automation, observability, and secure coding practices across the features they own
• Responsibly leverage AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development while validating output for correctness, security, and adherence to standards

Mentorship & Collaboration

• Mentor eCommerce Engineers through pairing, code review, and technical guidance
• Partner with product managers, designers, and QA to shape technical requirements and acceptance criteria
• Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and technical documentation

Minimum Qualifications

• 4-7 years of professional software development experience, with strong full-stack expertise
• Advanced proficiency in React and modern front-end architecture, plus strong Java back-end development experience
• Demonstrated experience designing and consuming RESTful/GraphQL APIs and third-party integrations
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum delivery

Preferred

• Hands-on experience with a large-scale eCommerce platform such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WebSphere Commerce, or a comparable enterprise platform
• Direct experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFRA/PWA Kit) or IBM WebSphere Commerce in a production, high-traffic environment
• Hands-on use of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate feature delivery
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized/microservices architectures
• Familiarity with performance optimization, caching strategies, and site reliability practices for high-traffic eCommerce sites
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Performance – Genuine care about performance as a customer experience problem, not a checkbox. You measure before you optimize.
• AI-forward engineering – Comfortable using AI tools (Claude Code and similar) as part of your daily workflow to accelerate delivery without cutting corners on quality.
• Ownership – Takes full ownership of features end-to-end and proactively raises risks before they become problems.
