Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an exceptional children teacher assistant to support the assigned teacher and EC students, helping them access general education and work toward IEP goals. This role involves collaborative planning with teachers to ensure successful instruction and progress tracking.

The position requires assisting with small groups or individuals, supervising students across settings, preparing materials, and participating in daily routines, field trips, and emergencies

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to exceptional children.
• Experience or familiarity with EC students and IEP processes is preferred.
• Ability to follow teachers' instructions and support instruction effectively.
• Willingness to complete required trainings and assessments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering instruction and reinforcing concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and during activities.
• Record data on student progress toward IEP goals and prepare materials.
• Prepare lesson materials and classroom displays; manage learning spaces.
• Support attendance procedures, portfolios, and testing as directed.
