Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking an exceptional children (EC) teacher assistant to support the assigned teacher and EC students. The role involves guiding children toward IEP goals and providing access to general education as needed, under principal supervision.

The EC teacher assistant will perform school-based tasks in alignment with Board of Education policies and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment on campus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to exceptional children.
• Ability to use current technology and communication methods for disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums.
• Coordinate with the classroom teacher to plan instructional efforts and gather materials.
• Assist with attendance procedures, record keeping, and organizing classroom spaces.
• Provide physical assistance to students as needed in self-help, toileting, and mobility tasks.
