Frost Valley YMCA is seeking an East Valley Program Coordinator to oversee the East Valley Year Round Programs and Farm Camp operations at our East Valley Ranch and 515-acre facility. The role includes recruiting, program development, staff training, and ensuring high-quality service for participants, families, and staff year-round.

The on-site position includes room and board, occasional overnight on-call duties during camp sessions, and collaboration across departments to maintain safety

Description

The East Valley Program Coordinator is responsible for the direct implementation and oversight of Frost Valley YMCA’s East Valley Year Round Programs and Farm Summer Camp. Farm Camp is a specialty summer program which engages ~50-90 campers per session. Year Round Programs include school trips, and group and family retreats, and rentals throughout the non-summer months. Programs run from our East Valley Ranch and 515 acre farm camp facility. A principal job function is to ensure thatquality service is provided to all participants, families and staff. In addition, this position supports our larger program portfolio and works to support year round and community programs outside the East Valley when needed. The East Valley Coordinator role assists with recruiting, program development, staff training, program operations, andevaluation for Farm Camp throughout the year.

This position requires living on site at camp year round, with room and board provided. The role may occasionally include rotating and paid overnight ‘on-call’ responsibilities when camp is in session, and when groups are on-site.

Requirements
Program Operations
  • Responsible for all aspects of day-to-day Farm camp operations and year round programs in the East Valley
  • Maintain the highest safety standards for campers in Farm summer camp, and guests throughout the year
  • Participate in and execute recruitment strategy to meet enrollment goals
  • Work with Program teams to manage a calendar of recruitment efforts including camp fairs, open houses, info sessions, school and community events,
  • Develop and maintain trusting relationships with parents, caregivers, and guests
  • Review and respond to camper, family and guest feedback; providing prompt, friendly and informative service to stakeholders
  • Collaborate across departments, including wellness, kitchen, facilities, agriculture and equestrian, to ensure strong program operations and team work
  • With guidance from the Associate Director of Camping Services, manage the Farm Camp program budget and maintain supply inventory
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations and American Camping Association accreditation standards
  • Assist with barn chores including feeding and daily maintenance when needed, including snow removal during winter months
  • Any and all other tasks as assigned by the Associate Director of Specialty Camping and Executive Leadership
Program Design
  • Develop program schedules and workshops for school groups and weekend retreats throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with Program Quality team to implement program safety standards, trainings, surveys and ensure a quality program experience aligned with organizational vision
  • Create and support a joyful program experience and environment, ensuring programs are executed in ways that are fun, while also encouraging challenge and growth
Staff Hiring and Management
  • Recruit and hire a team of ~25 seasonal staff including leadership, international staff, general counselors, and junior counselors (staff aged under 18)
  • Supervise a seasonal summer leadership team, who in turn supervises front line staff, providing ongoing coaching and feedback
  • Responsible for administrative duties including scheduling, payroll, documentation of staff coaching and evaluation
  • Work with Camping Services team to develop and implement staff training for resident camp staff

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or a minimum of 3 years progressively responsible supervisory experience in a resident camp or recreation setting
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills
  • Be a strong leader and be able to work well with a team of others
  • Enjoy working with children, teens, families and other staff
  • Possess clean, valid US Driver’s License desired
  • Certification by a nationally recognized Wilderness First Responder desired. If not, current candidates will be asked to successfully complete courses upon hire
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • Employee may be required to traverse on rough terrain.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

FROST VALLEY IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
RATE OF PAY: $16-18 per hour, $48,500 to $52,500.00 annualized including overtime allowances, plus generous benefits and housing.
