Job summary

Frost Valley YMCA is seeking an East Valley Program Coordinator and East Valley Ranch Summer Camp Director to lead and oversee the East Valley programs, including an all-girls equestrian summer camp serving about 60 campers per session. The role includes year-round initiatives, school trips, and community retreats at our East Valley Ranch, with on-site living arrangements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field or 3 years progressively responsible supervisory experience in a resident camp or recreation setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills.
• Be a strong leader and be able to work well with a team of others.
• Be able to multi-task and handle pressure well.
• Enjoy working with children, teens, families and other staff.
• Knowledge of riding style and previous equestrian experience preferred.
• Possess clean, valid US Driver’s License desired.
• Certification by a nationally recognized Wilderness First Responder desired. If not, current candidates will be asked to successfully complete courses upon hire

Responsibilities

• Recruit and hire a team of ~14 seasonal staff domestic and international staff, general counselors, and junior counselors (staff aged under 18)
• Supervise a seasonal team, providing ongoing coaching and feedback
• Responsible for administrative duties including scheduling, payroll, documentation of staff coaching and evaluation
• Work with Camping Services team to develop and implement staff training for resident camp staff
• Collaborate across departments to ensure strong program operations and teamwork
• Manage the East Valley Ranch program budget and maintain supply inventory
• Ensure compliance with health regulations and accreditation standards
• Support year round and community programs initiatives, including subbing at after school program when needed
• Assist with barn chores and seasonal duties including snow removal
• Any other tasks as assigned by leadership
