Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and document freight in a multimodal terminal.

As a certified operator with 3+ years dock experience, you will mentor teammates, follow safety procedures, and help meet daily productivity goals. Shift is Mon-Fri 12pm-8pm; pay rate $19 per hour. Candidates must lift up to 75 lbs and operate MHE with proper training.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain).
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Demonstrates safety-first approach and PPE compliance.
• Ability to learn and operate basic computer systems and handheld scanners.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and warehouses.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and follow OSHA standards.
