Job summary

YMCA of the Black Hills is hiring an Early Learning Assistant Teacher in Rapid City, SD. The role supports a warm, inclusive classroom atmosphere and assists with developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 6 weeks through 5 years.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 16 years of age.
• Be able to lift 25 lbs.
• Have an understanding of growth and development.
• Meet qualifications needed for South Dakota State Childcare Licensing.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 60 days of hire, other YMCA required training within 60 days of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Be passionate about the YMCA mission and vision and must personally advocate and demonstrate the core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.
• Basic knowledge of computers.

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with all youth in your care.
• Handle and resolve membership concerns and inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
• Provide and welcome ongoing positive dialog and relations with YMCA families.
• Complete continuing education annual requirements.
• Maintain excellent room appearance and proper maintenance of equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Learn and actively implement YMCA Social and Emotional Curriculum, Conscious Discipline.
• Complete opening and closing procedures as required.
• Follow childcare policies and procedures as set forth in the childcare employee handbook.
• Apply all YMCA safety and emergency procedures and state and local codes.
• Accurately complete an incident/accident report for each incident/accident and submit it in accordance with staff training.

Starting Pay: $14.00 per hour

Location: Rapid City, SD

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 5:30 pm

Shift: 8 hours
