Job summary

YMCA of Greater Providence in Providence, RI is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support the Lead Teacher and classroom activities at our new early learning center. You will help implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum, engage with children on indoor/outdoor activities, and document progress for families.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; must participate in ongoing staff development and complete required safety certifications within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Participation in ongoing early childhood staff development.
• Certifications before working with children: Child Abuse Prevention Training, New Employee Orientation, RI DHS or MA EEC requirements.
• Certifications within first 60 days: CPR, First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen, RI DHS safety training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and delivering a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Collaborate with Lead Teacher to prepare and deliver lesson plans.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of children’s progress and share with teachers.
• Incorporate health and safety standards into daily routines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Communicate regularly with families about activities and progress.
