Job summary

The YMCA in Pawtucket, RI is seeking a Lead Teacher to oversee the daily operation of an early childhood classroom. You will ensure instruction aligns with the Rhode Island ELD Standards (RIELDS) and maintain documentation for attendance and meals.

You will collaborate with the Ed Coordinator/Director, supervise a Teacher Assistant, and engage families through meaningful communication and assessment tools throughout the year.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Minimum of 12 college credits in early childhood education.
• Three months experience in a classroom environment.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid within 3 months of hire.
• Meet DHS and YMCA Employment qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Establish a warm and professional rapport with all children and families.
• Maintain healthy and safety standards in the classroom.
• Develop curriculum aligned with Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS).
• Maintain attendance records and meal tracking (CACFP; if applicable).
• Ensure cleanliness of the classroom and proper setup for activities.
• Supervise and support the Teacher Assistant.
• Observe and document progress of each child and communicate with families.
• Prepare lesson plans in advance and adhere to the yearly schedule.
• Participate in staff trainings and mandated meetings.
• Complete duties or provide coverage as assigned by Ed Coordinator/Director.
