Job summary

YMCA Rhode Island seeks a Teacher Assistant to support early childhood education under the supervision of the Early Childhood Director and Lead Teacher. You will help plan and implement curriculum aligned with RI standards, greet families, and ensure safety and supervision throughout the day.

The role requires at least 16 years old, 3 months classroom experience, and completion of CPR/First Aid within 3 months. Must pass background checks and training as per YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• Three months experience in a classroom environment.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid within 3 months of hire.
• Meet all DCYF and YMCA Employment qualifications.
• Completion of criminal background check and screening per YMCA standards.
• Completion of required Child Abuse Prevention training prior to and throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparing and implementing the classroom curriculum.
• Maintain health and safety standards in the classroom.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Greet families and children as they enter or exit the classroom/building.
• Support social and emotional development and positive guidance.
• Provide active supervision of children at all times.
• Participate in Family Engagement Activities and staff trainings.
