Job summary

YWCA Hartford Region, Inc. is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support the Head Teacher in delivering a safe, healthy, and engaging environment for children in its Early Learning Centers.

The role includes implementing activities, assisting with planning, and maintaining positive communication with families. The candidate will help with curriculum delivery, classroom management, and compliance with health and safety standards, with some evenings required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• CPR/First Aid certification or certification within two months of employment.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Demonstrated ability to develop age-appropriate exhibits and activities for the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, delivering classroom and outdoor curriculum to meet physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child.
• Maintain an orderly, safe, healthy, and inviting environment per accreditation.
• Provide positive guidance and redirection to children.
• Assist Head Teacher I or II in daily classroom responsibilities in their absence.
• Develop and maintain positive communication with parents.
• Snack preparation, delivery, and clean-up; monitoring of bathroom facilities.
