YMCA in East Hartford, CT is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support preschool education under the Head Teacher and Child Development Director. You will assist in daily classroom supervision and outdoor activities, helping to implement developmentally appropriate curriculums.

We value a warm, nurturing personality; bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus. The role requires adherence to safety, confidentiality, and licensing standards in a busy preschool setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ECE development and standards.
• Warm and nurturing personality.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
• May access PHI to perform duties.
• Work in Pre-school classroom with potential exposure to communicable diseases and disabilities.
• Comply with Part 407 Licensing Standards for Child Care Centers and NAEYC standards.

Responsabilités

• Assist in daily preschool supervision and outdoor play.
• Support developmentally appropriate curriculums and complete forms/reports.
• Plan for individual children using child development knowledge.
• Supervise parents and classroom visitors.
• Assist with drills, emergencies, attendance, and CACFP/USDA reporting.
• Follow food handling, sanitation, and OSHA procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of child and family information.
• Maintain neat, safe classroom and storage areas.
• Uphold YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.
