Job summary

Save the Children is seeking a Program Aide to provide educational, relational, and social experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. You will report to the Education and Inclusion Manager or Center Director and may travel between program sites and home visits.

You will assist with daily classroom activities, support teachers, and may serve as a substitute. Responsibilities include custodial and kitchen duties, ensuring child safety, and promoting Head Start values.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Certification as applicable by Head Start or childcare regulations.
• Within 90 days of employment, must obtain basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of working with infants and young children.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to relate to children, staff, and families.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom staff in all classroom activities.
• Support teacher during program activities (Family Nights, newsletters, materials, calls).
• Serve as temporary substitute for Assistant Teacher or Teacher.
• Provide custodial and kitchen/food service tasks as needed.
• Operate in safety hygiene and sanitation according to standards.
• Attend workshops and staff meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality and promote Head Start publicly.
