Job summary

Save the Children is seeking Program Aides to support infants, toddlers and preschoolers across Head Start programs. You will assist with classroom activities, daily operations, and duties across various settings while ensuring child safety and program integrity.

The role requires adherence to Head Start standards, strong English communication, and the ability to work with diverse families. Travel to sites may be required, and responsibilities include classroom, kitchen, and general site support.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Certification as applicable by Head Start or childcare regulations, now or as amended in the future.
• Within 90 days of employment, obtain basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basics of working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to relate sensitively with children and work with staff, parents and families.
• Proven ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Demonstrated ability to keep information about families confidential.
• Demonstrated ability to work with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Apply clear practices and procedures in daily execution of job.
• Organize self and manage time effectively to complete tasks.
• Keep manager informed of important issues.
• Build effective relationships with children, families and team.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Assist classroom staff in all activities and support Teacher as needed.
• Serve as a temporary substitute in absence of Teacher or Assistant Teacher.
• Provide custodial support and assist with kitchen/dining tasks as required.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start standards and local childcare regulations.
