Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in Odessa, Texas, is seeking an Early Childhood Co-Teacher to support Tier 1 instruction for Prekindergarten through Grade 2 under the lead teacher. This role emphasizes small-group learning, academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports to foster joyful, engaging learning environments where all students thrive.

The position is grant-funded with Title II Part A funds, paying hourly from $17.79 to $25.59.

Qualifications

• At least 48 college hours required or bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year educational institution required
• 1+ year(s) of experience working with children in a classroom or volunteer setting

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teachers
• Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student records
• Support Tier 1 core instruction under the direction of the lead teacher, ensuring all students can access grade-level learning
• Actively facilitate small-group instruction and intervention groups based on student data and teacher planning
• Monitor student learning and needs during instruction and provide feedback and support
• Communicate students’ progress with student and family on a weekly basis
• Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus-wide initiatives
• Help shape and develop a school-wide culture fostering productive and enthusiastic learning
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students and families
• Host tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, and after-school duties
• Engage in summer and year-long district, school and personal learning and development
• Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week
