Job summary

The U.S. Coast Guard Alameda Child Development Center is seeking a Full Time Child Care Assistant to support daily care and early education activities for children.

You will work with staff to implement age-appropriate curriculum, monitor safety, assist with meals and transitions, and maintain records in a fast-paced program in Alameda, CA. Responsibilities include supervising activities, preparing spaces, and maintaining child participation data while communicating with parents and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• One year of general experience with children in a group setting.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and work indoors/outdoors.
• Able to pass Tier 1 background check and Civilian Medical Clearance.
• Preferred: education beyond high school in childhood development or related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute early childhood education activities to promote development.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum with directors and teachers.
• Maintain safe program environment and positive interactions among staff, children, and parents.
• Lead planned activities and monitor participants' participation and well-being.
• Prepare, arrange and maintain indoor/outdoor activity areas and materials.
• Complete daily reports and maintain participant data.
