Job summary

Bridging Gaps Through Positive Solutions seeks a Behavior Specialist to support Early Childhood Behavioral Intervention services in Baltimore area, working with children ages 3-5 and their families. You will observe behavior, support planning, and coach educators and caregivers to implement plans across centers, Head Start, and family homes.

The role collaborates with a Lead Mental Health Therapist, travels regionally, and aims to improve social skills and kindergarten readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with children exhibiting challenging behavior.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check, Child Protective Services clearance, and fingerprinting.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • LGPC, LCPC, LMSW licensing.
  • Excellent collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and caregivers.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Social/Emotional Screening (DECA/ASQ-SE) and gather assessment data.
  • Conduct classroom and community-based behavioral observations, including ABC data collection.
  • Develop individualized Support Plans and submit for supervisor review and approval prior to implementation.
  • Model intervention strategies in the classroom then coach teachers and caregivers to independent implementation.
  • Facilitate SEL small groups, classroom-wide supports, and Parent/Staff Trainings.
  • Provide accurate, concise, and concurrent documentation according to program procedures and policies in EHR.
  • Collect, graph, and analyze behavioral data to measure progress toward individualized goals.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams (IEP/CDT/IFSP/Staffing/Team).
  • Work between multiple partner sites as needed by program need and productivity.
  • Recognize and report suspected abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter; escalate clinical risk to the Lead Mental Health Therapist immediately.
