Job summary

Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore is seeking a Behavior Specialist to coordinate with classroom, Mental Health/Clinical, and Related Services to support students’ behavioral needs. The role serves as case manager for behavioral programming, develops and implements Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP), and conducts FBA assessments.

Responsibilities include data collection and graphing, staff training, crisis management, and collaboration with IEP teams to monitor progress and document

Qualifications

• PCM certification within the timeframe set by the department
• CPR certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) including data collection, interviews, logs and direct observation.
• Develop and update Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) for students on caseload.
• Initiate and monitor data collection systems; summarize, graph, and share data with classroom teams.
• Train classroom staff in implementing BIPs and data collection; monitor fidelity.
• Provide progress monitoring of behavioral goals; prepare quarterly progress reports and IEP presentations.
• Coordinate and implement responses to behavioral crises as part of school-wide procedures.
• Facilitate school-wide positive behavioral interventions and supports.
• Complete documentation of contacts with parents, transportation providers, and other agencies.
• Provide in-service trainings; conduct Professional Crisis Management (PCM) when certified.
• Consult transportation staff on behavior management on the bus if appropriate
