Job summary

Keene Young Mens is seeking an Associate Teacher to support youth programming within a YMCA-driven environment. You will create a safe, engaging space mirroring YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring, while assisting with curriculum delivery under supervision.

You will build relationships with children and parents, supervise activities, observe progress, and coordinate with staff to ensure a quality learning experience aligned with licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Meets childcare licensing education and experience requirements.
• At least 18 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Health form completed within 30 days of hire date.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children; 3+ years in a licensed childcare facility is highly preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate developmentally appropriate program activities.

Responsibilities

• Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Maintains a dependable and stable classroom environment.
• Implements curriculum within established guidelines.
• Assists with designing and implementing daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises children, classroom and activities.
• Conducts ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Conducts parent conferences with the Lead Teacher and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Engages parents as volunteers.
• Maintains program site and equipment and required records.
• Attends family nights, program activities, staff meetings and trainings (18 hours/year).
• Fulfills functions appointed by YMCA administration.
