Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking an Assistant Teacher to help coordinate daily activities in our early learning program. Under supervision, you will assist the Lead Teacher, provide a safe and nurturing environment, and model caring interactions for children aged in early childhood settings.

You will implement lesson plans, monitor safety, maintain records, and participate in trainings. A starting wage of $18 per hour is offered, with opportunities to grow as you meet licensing

Qualifications

Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, families and children.
Must meet all Child Care Licensing requirements including one course in early childhood education or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Follow and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and participate in daily activities.
Serve as a role model to staff and students and engage children with caring interactions.
Maintain participant records and comply with regulatory requirements.
Ensure safety and cleanliness of learning spaces and classrooms.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
Follow emergency procedures and YMCA core values.
