Health Care Service Corporation offers a ten-week paid internship in either Chicago, IL or Richardson, TX. You will participate in a hands-on program focused on indirect sourcing, procurement, and supporting strategic initiatives across multiple departments.

Job Summary

This ten-week paid internship can be located in Chicago, IL or Richardson, TX.

What Are Your Responsibilities?

This position is responsible for actively participating in an internship program that uses your skills, knowledge, and capabilities while exposing you to different methodologies and tools related to supply-chain management and procurement. This role will assist with applying emerging technologies to develop best-in-class systems and solutions for our clients and members. Working closely with cross-functional teams in our business and technical areas, the intern is responsible for learning specific aspects of the processes, programs, and technology related to supply-chain management and procurement. This role may require additional project support, administrative tasks, and ad hoc requests to support business needs. This may include assisting in the management of ad-hoc department and procurement operations projects. Or assisting in pricing, negotiation, and contract drafting and analysis.

Partnering with teams across Procurement and the broader business, including IT Hardware, IT Software, Medical Management, Business Outsourcing, and Professional Services, you will build practical experience and deepen your understanding of critical business processes, programs, and technologies. The internship will primarily focus on indirect sourcing and procurement, providing opportunities to contribute to strategic initiatives, supplier management activities, and process improvement efforts.

Additional responsibilities may include project support, administrative tasks, research and analysis, and other ad hoc assignments to support evolving business needs.

Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies, and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.

Maintain complete confidentiality of company business.

Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.

Create a final internship PowerPoint presentation to share with department leadership covering the internship experience and the assigned project throughout the summer, including the results and any solutions or recommendations that the department can leverage in the future.

Assist in the management of ad-hoc Department projects

Assist in pricing, negotiation, and contract analyses

What Do You Need To Be Successful?

Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Access

Utilize effective problem-solving skills to identify challenges and propose practical solutions, including the use of AI and automation to optimize procurement processes and improve efficiency.

Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to a team environment

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Strong organizational and time management skills

Experience with or knowledge of Power Query, Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Alteryx, or Python

What Are the Requirements You Must Meet?

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree; rising senior with a major in business administration, supply chain management, or economics. Other majors may be considered.
• Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Available for the full duration of the 10-week program.
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this role.
