Job summary

Nucor in Blytheville, AR is hiring a 1st Helper for the Electric Arc Furnace. You will work in a high-heat environment on a rotating shift, with weekends and overtime as required, ensuring safe operations and quality heats for downstream processes.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining the EAF, balancing slag chemistry, and supporting safety, quality, cost, and productivity goals across the melt shop. Prior EAF experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year Electric Arc Furnace First Helper experience.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the Electric Arc Furnace and refractory maintenance on the crew.
• Balance oxygen and carbon inside the EAF and ensure heats meet quality before delivery to the LMF.

Basic Job Functions:

The Shift 1st Helper will be expected to adhere to all requirements for protective equipment for those areas and be responsible for, but not limited to, making timely and accurate decisions under pressure, ensuring the safety of his team, the training of the EAF Helpers on his crew, the operation & refractory maintenance of the EAF, balancing oxygen and carbon inside the EAF, balancing the slag chemistry inside the EAF and ensuring the quality of heats that are delivered to the LMF while supporting the goals of the Melt Shop and Nucor-Yamato Steel in Safety, Quality, Environmental, Cost, and Productivity on their shift. 1st Helper will work in extreme heat, rotating shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum 1 year Electric Arc Furnace First Helper experience
