Placements24 is recruiting an experienced E-commerce Operations Manager for Welkom, Free State. The role oversees end-to-end e-commerce logistics, inventory, and customer service, driving efficiency and cost savings with a strong focus on process improvement.

You will lead an operations team in a hybrid environment, coordinating with marketing and sales to meet forecasts and deliver exceptional customer experiences. Bachelor’s in a related field is required; Master’s is a plus.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a prominent national e-commerce retailer, is seeking an experienced and highly organized E-commerce Operations Manager to oversee their day-to-day operations in Welkom, Free State . This critical role is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all e-commerce-related logistics, from inventory management and order fulfillment to customer service and supply chain coordination. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in operations management, a deep understanding of e-commerce best practices, and a proven ability to optimize processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. You will lead a dedicated operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of the e-commerce fulfillment process, including receiving, warehousing, inventory control, order picking, packing, and shipping.
• Develop and implement efficient inventory management systems to ensure optimal stock levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce holding costs.
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and shipping carriers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service level agreements are met.
• Implement and refine customer service processes to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and timely resolution of inquiries and issues.
• Monitor key operational performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, on-time shipment rates, inventory turnover, and fulfillment costs, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions.
• Lead, train, and motivate the operations team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations within the operations facilities.
• Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to align operational capabilities with promotional activities and sales forecasts.
• Manage operational budgets and control expenses effectively.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in e-commerce operations management or a related field, with a focus on logistics and supply chain.
• Demonstrated success in optimizing fulfillment processes and managing warehouse operations.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and improve operational efficiency.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Experience in negotiating with 3PLs and shipping carriers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote strategy with on-site operational oversight.
