Job summary

The Macon-Bibb County Consolidated Government is seeking an E-911 Communication Officer to receive, process, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency information for the E-911 Center. You will operate emergency telecommunications and radio equipment, coordinate field units, and ensure backup and safety of responders.

Required: high school diploma or equivalent, excellent communication, and ability to type 30 wpm; a P.O.S.T. exam may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; relevant public safety experience preferred.
• Ability to type 30 wpm and pass certification exam as required.
• Knowledge of local geography and radio/telecommunications equipment.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, dispatch, and disburse emergency and non-emergency information.
• Operate E-911 telecommunications and radio equipment to dispatch responders.
• Coordinate field units and maintain status of emergency movements.
• Communicate with officers, coordinate backups, and verify locations.
• Route medical calls to ambulance services and monitor weather statements.
• Operate GCIC/NCIC terminals for warrants and criminal histories.
• Assist the public and provide information for emergency and non-emergency calls.
