Job summary

Sylvania in Pharr, TX is seeking a Dyslexia Intervention Teacher to deliver districtwide Dyslexia Intervention Programs for elementary and secondary students, helping them reach their potential.

You will evaluate students for dyslexia, conduct 504 meetings, and coordinate accommodations with general education teachers to ensure appropriate supports. A Texas teaching certificate and bilingual ability are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Job description

Primary Purpose:

Provide districtwide, Dyslexia Intervention Program to elementary and secondary students with characteristics of dyslexia designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Evaluate students for dyslexia and conduct 504 meetings for these students. Work with general education teachers to insure appropriate accommodations for students serviced by 504.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution
• Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Knowledge of Reading Instructional Strategies
• Knowledge of Dyslexia
• Knowledge of 504 Committee process and Individual Academic Plan (IAP) goal setting
• process and implementation
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction and state assessment objectives
• Demonstrated ability to manage student’s academic needs and behavior
• Strong organizational, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Experience:
