YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor at the Pearl Street Family YMCA in Tacoma, WA. You will lead beginner to advanced swimming classes, emphasizing safety, progression, and core YMCA values for children and families.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15 years or older.
• Six months or more of related experience preferred.
• Ability to demonstrate basic swimming skills.
• Comfort and enthusiasm for water environments.
• Experience working with youth and diverse backgrounds.
• Pass background and reference checks per WA State Fair Chance Act.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day.

Responsibilities

• Prepare class lesson plans with progression for ages and abilities.
• Safely instruct swimming lessons per level following YMCA guidelines.
• Complete accident and incident reports.
• Keep accurate records of lesson attendance and skill progression.
• Communicate with parents using session report cards.
