Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor for the Tom Taylor Family YMCA in Gig Harbor, WA. You will provide direct leadership, prepared instruction, and motivation for students across beginner to advanced levels in line with YMCA guidelines.

The wage ranges from $17.32 to $17.82 per hour, with compensation based on experience and qualifications. Up to 25 hours per week, flexible around school and activities; employment is contingent on background checks and

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15 or older.
• Six months or more related experience (preferred).
• Ability to demonstrate basic swimming skills.
• Comfort around and enthusiasm for water.
• Experience working with youth and diverse backgrounds.
• Must pass background and reference checks.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on day one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare class lesson plans with progression for ages and abilities.
• Instruct swimming lessons safely to basic and advanced skills per class level.
• Complete accident and incident reports.
• Keep records of lesson attendance and skill progression.
