Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties, Pearl Street Family YMCA, Tacoma, WA, is looking for a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor to join our team. This part-time role combines lifeguarding with swim instruction to promote safety and skill development for youth and members.

You will supervise pool areas, teach classes, perform first aid/CPR when needed, and support a positive, inclusive member experience. Flexible hours and YMCA benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 16 years of age.
• Lifeguard certification required (YMCA/Red Cross) with CPR/AED.
• Oxygen administration and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Six months' aquatics experience preferred.
• Experience working with youth and diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure member safety by monitoring pool and deck and enforcing rules.
• Instruct swimming lessons for youth with progressive skill levels.
• Perform rescue, first aid and CPR per YMCA procedures.
• Prepare lesson plans aligned to class levels and ages.
• Attend trainings and maintain certifications.
• Maintain accurate attendance and safety records.
