Job summary

Frederick County Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute, Special Education Instructional Assistant at Wolfsville Elementary School. The role supports students with IEPs under a certificated teacher, with potentially heavy personal care needs. Position runs for approx.

60 days, ASAP start; $17.13 per hour; non-exempt under FLSA. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities, documenting progress, and supporting IEP goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 48 college credits or AA degree or ParaPro pass for Title One Schools.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely in both oral and written form.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Supports students under the direction of a Certificated FCPS staff.
• Communicates and documents student progress.
• Sets up materials, equipment, and assistive devices as directed.
• Facilitates student progress toward independence.
• Monitors and assists students during educational and recreational activities.
• Assists with routine physical and/or personal care.
• Monitors and assists students in meeting IEP goals and objectives.
• Carries out emergency action/health care plans as needed.
• Participates in crisis intervention techniques and team meetings.
• Performs general clerical support for the special education program.
