Job summary

The Helix School in San Rafael, CA seeks an experienced Substitute Special Education Teacher to support autistic students from K through Transition. The role involves 1:1 instruction, collaboration with the head teacher, counselors, speech therapists, and OT/Social-Emotional Learning staff, and adapting instruction to developmental and sensory needs.

You will collect data, help prepare academic plans, and provide behavioral support within a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college credits or degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with children; special education experience preferred.
• Ability to stay calm and effective in a dynamic classroom setting.
• Strong collaboration and communication with school team is essential.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 delivery of special education plans with the head teacher and related specialists.
• Assist in preparing and presenting academic plans with the student’s team.
• Provide behavioral support to students as needed.
• Under supervision, collect data as required.
