Job summary

Kennedale ISD seeks a dedicated special education teacher to support learning for students with diverse needs. You will develop and implement IEPs through ARD, adapt curricula, and collaborate with classroom staff to ensure access to grade-level instruction.

Responsibilities include ongoing assessment, behavior management per IEP, and coordination with service providers. Strong communication with families and adherence to policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and valid teaching certificate with special education endorsements.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting/implementation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to adapt curricula and instruction for students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through ARD for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs and document prep.
• Assess student learning styles and plan materials to match needs.
• Present subject matter using varied instructional techniques and technology.
• Work with teachers to modify regular curricula and assist students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Assist in selection of books, equipment, and instructional media.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement.
• Provide or supervise personal/medical care and feeding as stated in IEP.
• Oversee extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Consult with district/resource personnel regarding education, social, medical, needs.
• Create a conducive classroom environment for learning and development.
• Manage student behavior per IEP, including de-escalation and crisis intervention.
• Consult with teachers on behavior management according to IEP.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure access to instruction for specialized programs.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
• Plan and supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
• Establish open communication with parents and staff; maintain professional relationships.
• Participate in staff development and comply with regulations and policies.
• Maintain reports and attend faculty meetings and committees.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
