Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Special Education Teacher to educate elementary and/or secondary students with emotional impairments in specialized programs. You will plan annual syllabi, develop IEPs, and monitor student progress and behavior, while supervising paraprofessional staff and coordinating with parents and school staff.

The role requires a four-year degree, CTC credential, and relevant experience. Master’s degree is preferred, with internship pathways available.

Qualifications

• Must possess a four-year college degree from a fully accredited institution; Master’s degree is desirable.
• CTC credential required; internship programs considered.
• At least one year of experience with emotionally disturbed children/adolescents; mental health environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach daily lessons to assigned students using the school syllabus.
• Supervise and mentor paraprofessional staff.
• Develop and administer IEPs and annual performance goals.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to assess needs and implement corrective measures.
• Maintain attendance records, evaluate performance, and issue grades.
• Lead classroom activities and supervised field trips and social activities.
