Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Special Education Teacher to educate elementary and secondary students with emotional impairments in specialized programs. You will plan a comprehensive annual classroom syllabus and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student.

You will collaborate with parents and staff, supervise paraprofessional support, monitor attendance and performance, and ensure compliance with California state requirements throughout the school year.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree required (CTC preferred) with relevant credential.
• At least one year of experience with emotionally/behaviorally disturbed youth.
• Master’s degree is desirable; internship candidates considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily lessons using approved syllabus and plan yearly IEPs.
• Develop and monitor IEPs, and finalize annual IEPs for assigned students.
• Supervise paraprofessional support staff and collaborate with parents and staff.
• Assess academic and behavioral progress and assign grades.
• Coordinate field trips and classroom activities.
• Attend school meetings and career enhancement workshops.
