Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Special Education Teacher to instruct elementary and/or secondary students with emotional impairments in specialized programs. The role involves planning a comprehensive annual syllabus and developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student, while supervising paraprofessional staff and maintaining accurate attendance and grades.

You will work with parents and staff to assess needs, implement corrective measures, and ensure students meet performance goals

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in Education or related field.
• CTC credential required; internship pathways possible.
• Master’s degree is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily classroom activities and behavior for assigned students.
• Teach daily lessons per approved syllabus.
• Supervise 1:1s and Educational Assistants.
• Monitor academic/behavioral progress per IEP/EP.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to assess needs and adjust plans.
• Plan and supervise all classroom activities and field trips.
• Evaluate student performance and issue grades.
• Complete IEPs as needed and annually.
• Attend school meetings and career development workshops.
