Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to educate elementary and/or secondary students with emotional impairments in specialized programs. The role includes planning a comprehensive annual syllabus, developing and administering IEPs for each student, and achieving yearly classroom performance goals.

You will supervise paraprofessional staff, work with families and staff, and ensure compliance with California state requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong communication with students, families and staff.
• Proficient in current teaching and classroom management practices for special education.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and interpret data for IEP planning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily lessons to students per approved syllabus.
• Supervise and mentor 1:1 aides and educational staff.
• Monitor academic and behavioral progress toward IEP goals.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to assess needs and develop corrective measures.
• Prepare and administer IEPs and annual progress reports.
• Maintain accurate attendance, tests, grades and records.
